Guess she feels there's a fool born ever minute huh? LOL, take care of yourself Ryan. Be cautious.
Hmm...seems the natives are getting cheeky in their attempts at fraudulence *g*
Do you have an Internet Fraud department over there that can handle this - especially given that you now have some extra info on the person.

(Hmm... Something went wonky with the first try... Try #2:)
Just curious... did you actually ever *get* a cashier's check from either of your contacts? Seems to me that it *ought* to be pretty easy to track them down if you have a check in-hand that you can cash... as long as they're willing to agree to a "not until the check clears" waiting period! ;) Ahhhh, THERE'S the rub! D'oh!! He he... ;)
Congrats on out-thinking them. The only reason these guys continue to do this, of course, is that people are still falling for it.
Cha-cha-cha-cha. Nice dodge there.
Yeah, that has fraud written all over it. Sounds like one of those scams where you end up wiring some of your own money somewhere, or inadvertently transmitting bank account information. Makes me sick that people try to prey on others like that.
I'm sorry this ended up being a bum deal, but it's good that you saw through it before anything worse happened. I'm sure you'll find a real roommate soon.
If your weekend plans are shot, you still have a place to stay with us if you decide to make it over to Urupalooza. :) There're some good pubs/lounges around here.

I just noticed the date of your post. :P You probably already have something lined up for this weekend.

Well I have one of those people online right now trying to scam me. I have been playing along. I actually managed to get a cashier's check from them. Of course I believe it is a fraud, however I have asked my bank to verify it so I can then turn it over to the appropriate authorities. The story is much different then the one posted here but the Western Union part and even the address given are the same. I expect my bank to notify me of a forged/ false bank document in the next day or two.
